Miami Tropical Half Marathon

Many of the members of our team lined up to run a half in Miami. Vicki and I stood with the full marathoners. We hoped to finish under 3 hours 50 minutes in order for Vicki to qualify for Boston. My qualifying time is 3:40 which I knew I would not be able to do.

We started out kind of fast. I was running with many of my team mates who were doing the half. I did not want to keep that pace for too long and wear myself out. As we went onto the Venetian Causeway I stopped for the bathroom and Vicki caught me back up. We ran the next 12 + miles together. We were right on track to get our goal time. It is a beautiful fun through Coconut Grove. People were in the gardens handing out orange slices and cheering us on. The weather was perfect for us too although a lot of people from up north were complaining it was too hot.

Eventually we split up again coming in just a couple of minutes apart. I finished at 3 hours 51 minutes. My fastest time so far.
